Recently Dalton Logistical Services (DLS) completed
the shipment of 60 loads of pipe to Utah. Our pipe customer,
Pioneer Pipe, Denver Co, required that we compare the
economics of shipping 24” x 60' pipe joints for
coating in Utah, by truck vs. rail. The rail option
was more cost effective.
The pipe came in from Korea to the Port of Los Angeles
in Wilmington. After the steam-line company unloaded
the pipe, DLS then loaded the pipe onto our trucks and
hauling it to our Fontana facility, where it was unloaded
and stored.

When the “pipe coater”
in Utah needed the pipe, DLS arranged for the rail transportation
and loaded the pipe onto the railcars, to Union Pacific's
specifications. There is an involved and very specific
tie-down procedure that must be followed..
